On January 17, 2020 New Jersey Governor, Phill Murphy, passed a law to increase the use of plug-in electric vehicles while offering statewide incentives.

What is the Light Duty Plug-in Electric Vehicle Rebate Program?
Customers will receive up to $5,000 when they purchase or lease an all-electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle in New Jersey with an MSRP below $55,000. This rebate will equal $25.00 per mile of electric-only range, up to the $5,000 per vehicle maximum.

Who is eligible for the rebate?
Consumers who buy or lease an eligible vehicle in New Jersey after January 17, 2020 qualify and can apply for the rebate online.

Where do I apply for the rebate?
Customers can fill out an application on the Consumer Post-Purchase Rebate Portal, expected to launch in Spring 2020. Once approved, customers will receive payment directly from The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities/Center for Sustainable Energy. The dealership will NOT be responsible for payment.

New Jersey EV Rebate

Are you interested in slowing climate change? One of the most effective ways to accomplish that is to reduce emissions with an electric vehicle (EV). New Jersey is making it easier for drivers to get behind the wheel of these eco-friendly vehicles with their EV rebate program.

What does the New Jersey EV rebate mean for drivers in the Cape May County, Salem County, and Cumberland County areas? Our team at Action Hyundai of Millville has the inside scoop. Keep reading for all the details!

EV Rebate Program in New Jersey

In New Jersey, transportation accounts for 46% of the state's greenhouse gas emissions. Getting more people into all-electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles could greatly reduce this number. That's why Governor Murphy signed the EV Rebate Program into law in January of 2020.

When consumers in New Jersey buy or lease an electric vehicle with an MSRP below $55,000, they'll be eligible to receive the EV rebate. They'll get $25.00 per mile of electric-only range up to $5,000 per vehicle.

Additional Incentives in NJ

EV drivers in New Jersey are eligible for tax exemptions, toll discounts on the turnpike, and can drive in the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes on some area roads.

There's also the "It Pay$ to Plug In" Program. It provides local businesses with a grant to offset the cost of installing EV charging ports for employees and customers.

Need to Plug In?

Along with an EV rebate and a variety of other incentives, there are plenty of places to charge up in the Garden State. In fact, there are over 900 public charging locations statewide.

In our area of South Jersey, there are approximately 20 charging locations, so there's a good chance you can find a place to power up. There are also a few DC Fast Chargers nearby. They can provide 60 to 80 miles of drivable range after just 20 minutes of charging time.
